Alienware computers are powerful machines that are great for gaming other applications, but the company’s laptops can be unfortunately damaged by an all-too-common enemy: dust. As with many keyboards on many other laptops, dust can get underneath the keys of your Alienware laptop keyboard and cause issues. Here are a few ways to attempt a fix of the problem.

Step 1: To start, try a few home cleaning methods. A micro-fiber cloth can collect a lot of dust by itself, and it may be able to coax some of the particles out from beneath your keyboard. Some consumers also use canned air to try to force the dust out in a way that won’t damage the system.

Step 2: If the above methods don’t work, it’s time to move on to some other more work-intensive solutions. The obvious thing to try at this point is to remove the keyboard altogether so that you can actually get underneath it and clean it more effectively.

Dell, of which Alienware is a subsidiary, offers “quick tips” or “knowledge base” guides on its website to help consumers do this themselves. To see if there is a quick tips guide on how to remove the keyboard from your laptop, do a Google search with the appropriate keywords, as well as with your laptop’s model number.

Recap

Having dust and other junk caught underneath the keyboard on your Alienware laptop is a drag, and the problem can have a range of solutions. Once you do get everything cleaned up, though, consider using a protective keyboard skin to make sure you don’t face the same issue again in the future.
