The Xbox 360 controller is widely regarded as one of the best video game controllers ever. It's easy to hold and responsive. Naturally, people playing games want to use it wherever they can, including on their PC.

Luckily for you, both wireless and wired Xbox controllers can be used on a PC. Here's how to get set up:

1. Setting Up a Wired Controller

Before connecting the Xbox controller to your computer, install it first using the installation CD that comes with the controller. If the set up program does not open automatically, go to your CD or DVD drive and run the program. On the set up page, click "Install" and wait until the process is completed.

If you don't have an installation CD, go to the Microsoft Hardware website and then to their Software Download section. Choose "Gaming" as the product type and the Xbox Controller on the space beside it.

Next, select the Windows OS version of your computer and click "Download." When the download is done, select "Run" and wait until the installation process is done.

After installing the software, connect the Xbox controller USB into your laptop. Click "Start" and type "Run." On the dialog box, type joy.cpl and hit "Enter."

Turn your wireless Xbox controller on and press the connect button on your receiver. When the green light on the receiver flashes, press the connect button of your controller at the back to establish a connection. Finally, you are ready to enjoy your PC game using your Xbox controller.
