If you have read my other tutorial about CPU overclocking you know the drill.Low performance you want it to go faster.Well you came into the right place my friend.
Ok I get it already how do I overclock my GPU?
So what do you need to overclock?
1-A GPU and Motherboard that support overclocking.
2-Heat and Power headroom
3-Stress testing application.
Ok so where do I start? Well start by download and installing MSI Afterburner and start tuning your GPU.You will have these options:
1- Core Voltage (mV)
Min l--------[]------------l Max
2-Core Clock (MHz)
Min l---[]-----------------l Max
3-Shader Clock (MHz)
Min l-----[]---------------l Max
4-Memory Clock (MHz)
Min l-------[]-------------l Max
5-Fan Speed (%)
Min l----[]----------------l Max
You will want to move your sliders ( Min l-----[]-------l Max) one at a time.
You will want to leave Core Voltage alone if you are using the regular (Stock) cooler.
Your graphics card will vary.So start small. If your defaul Core Clock is say 850 you can increase it up to 880-ish.And work your way up.
The Shader Clock is for Nvidia Geforce cards only, but it's basiclly Core clock.Just diffrent.
The rest we'll get to.For now run a stress test.3DMark or Ozone so run it for an hour or so.While running Ozone you want to watch you for lines or dots or tearing anything that's out of the normalaty these are called artifacts. These indicate that either your GPU is overheating or you have pushed it too far.You may also get an error or a blank screen.Just restart and it will be fixed. While it's running you will want to look at the temperatures aswell. If your GPU runs for the hour without an error or artifacts you can increase the Memory Clock and the Core Clock slightly.Say from 1200 to 1350.While the test is running you can also turn up your Fan Speed to avoid high temperatures.Make sure your GPU doesn't go above 75 Degrees. But be aware this WILL make your card run louder. And that's it! I hope I helped :D
