While windows 10 is indeed a wonderful and excellent OS, it isn't without it's issues. This is because Windows 10 just got released, so it might take a month or two before all major problems get fixed.
The biggest problem right now is upgrading, lots of you windows 10 users have had issues when upgrading that range from minor sound problems all the way to the upgrade jamming and nearly making your PC unusable.
I will show you some tips on how to avoid these issues. This won't guarantee any or all problems will be fixed, but it will help.
1. Do a CLEAN Installation. This is one of the root causes for most problems, many drivers and programs aren't designed to be copied from one OS to another. So doing a clean installation of windows 10 then reinstalling your software will get rid of any graphics glitches or other bugs you may counter because of this.
Note: DO NOT do a clean installation if you are doing the free upgrade for the first time. Windows needs your previous windows installation so it knows the windows 10 free OS it's about to install is legit. Once you do the free upgrade without clean installation, make sure windows is activated then do a clean install.
2. Use the Windows Media Creation Tool. I've seen lots of people that couldn't get windows update to run the upgrade to windows 10. To avoid this, run the media creation tool Microsoft provides on their website.
3. DOWNLOAD WINDOWS 10 UPDATES TO USB STICK. If you upgrade to windows 10 and allow it to keep your files and programs, you will still be running some windows 7/8.1 drivers from your previous OS. To avoid issues from this, before you install windows 10 make sure you download ALL windows 10 drivers to a usb stick or storage device. So that when you update to 10, you can immediately install the right drivers.
4. UPDATE YOUR BIOS. This is my most important tip, BIOS updates. Make 100% sure your on the latest BIOS (non beta). This will help significantly reduce windows 10 jamming during installation or making weird glitches within the desktop.
5. Wait to update to windows 10. Many people with G3258 CPUs and some Core 2 Quads are currently not able to install windows 10. I don't know what's causing this, but wait a few weeks until installing. You can try installing windows 10, but if it doesn't go thru at ALL then just revert back to your previous OS.
UPDATE 6: If your experiencing BSOD issues try rolling back to a previous GeForce Driver. [strike]This fixed 90% of my BSOD problems[/strike]. Actually, no it didn't. It was my Turbo LAN utility that was causing all my BSODs.
Some or most of the glitches you see are not entirely Microsoft fault, rather it's the new drivers from motherboard manufacturers. Manufactures need time before they start creating mature enough drivers that will work perfectly will windows 10.
Like I said before, these tips WILL NOT guarantee your OS will run perfectly smoothly. But will hopefully reduce any glitches within windows 10.
