Once you have completed the road to freedom quest, you will be given this one, and it's a tough one. Before you even get near the first mission objective, I would get prepared for a fight. Bring the biggest gun you can, maybe even some power armor if you have enough fusion cores to manage it. You'll be going up against a lot of synths, and they have some pretty decent armor themselves. If you have armor that is good against energy weapons, toss that on. Similarly, if you have a weapon that does increased damage to synths, I'd use that. Unless it is melee. Synths have a nasty habit of punching you to stun you and you can end up getting quite the beat down in melee range because of it.

Step 1) Find Deacon. Alright, locked and loaded and ready to go? Bring a companion as well and head on over to Walden Pond. Once there, follow the compass quest marker to find Deacon on a highway overpass for a chat, follow him and he'll lead you to another railroad member named Ricky Dalton. He'll prompt you to use the call sign that Deacon taught you, even if you don't get it right, Deacon will step in and vouch for you though. At the end of the conversation, it's up to you if you opt for the frontal assault, or decide to go in through the escape tunnel. I do not recommend the frontal assault, you'll be getting ambushed by synths the entire way through, and it makes for a very tough ride. Head in the back and get the jump on them instead.

step 2) [b[Head inside. [/b]Deacon will use the terminal to open the door, and now the real fun begins. It's pretty much a straight line with no deviations from here, so start plowing through those metal monsters as best you can to get to the prize at the end of the tunnel.

Step 3) Hack the lights and turrets. On your way, you'll run into two terminals. One of them will allow you to disable the light tracking system, this should make sneaking up on them a bit easier. The other is going to allow you to hack the turrets to be on your side, this one is a huge help with the fighting, so make sure you find both of these to make this easier.

Step 4) Clear the mainframe room At one point there is going to be a pipe you need to crawl through to gain access to a terminal to unlock a door, don't worry if you can't hack these terminals, Deacon has you covered. You should be able to pick off most of the synths on the ground floor through the window, but beware the snipers above. Once you've cleared this room, check the area the snipers were shooting from and you'll find the covert ops magazine for a nice increase to your sneaking.

Step 5) Find the R&D department. Open the double doors from this mainframe room, and use the terminal ahead to disable the laser trip wires in this hallway. Continuing on, you are looking for a door labeled as 'R&D'. Be prepared for the boss as the leader of the synths is on the other side of this door. Heal up, reload, psyche yourself up, and bust in on him.

Step 6) Defeat the synth leader. Throw everything you've got at him, and when he goes down make sure you loot the room for everything it's worth. You'll find a nice 'The Deliverer' pistol here, as well as the prototype you were sent for.

Step 7 Escape and get back to the Old North Church. Congratulations, now you just need to get out of here alive. There's still a few synths in your way to clear out, as well as a couple of mines to watch out for on the way, but it should be fairly easy going to get back to the surface and out. Now all that is left is to travel back over to the Old North Church to deliver the prototype and it'll be a mission success. Good job!
