This is it, the last and final boss of Dark Souls 3. It's been a long journey to get here, fill with many hard bosses to go up against, and this guy is no different. This boss will choose a phase at random after you defeat his first sword phase, so keep that in mind that the phases shown below may now show up in the same order shown here. So let's get to it.

Step 1)Defeat the straight sword phase.
This is going to be the first phase of the boss no matter what, and can be one of the harder ones to deal with as he can be very aggressive here. You'll need to watch for his slow charging attacks where he pulls back to strike, and then seems to pause before he swings. If you dodge too soon you're going to get hit, but you should be able to dodge again to avoid the rest of the combo and be able to heal up. Since this is the hardest phase of the boss, and also the start of the fight, it can pay off to be aggressive here so as to get him to move on to the next phase quickly. And if you die trying, you can start over at the same phase without having lost much.

Step 2)Defeat the staff phase.
While wielding a staff he is going to be trying to use several sorceries against you. To combat that, stay close to the boss as some of them can't be used unless you get too far away from him. It will leap across the area to try and get the distance it needs to use it's attacks, but just close that distance as quickly as possible and it shouldn't be an issue. A lot of it's spells will take some time to charge so you should have plenty of opportunities to burn him down while he is casting.

Step 3)Defeat the whirling dervish.
This phase uses a lot of spinning slashing attacks with a curved sword that are going to be hard to dodge, but they don't deal nearly as much damage as his straight sword phase. If you've got a decent shield you should be able to block most of them if you can't dodge them, and wear him down with proper counter attacking. During this phase he will do some backflips to get some distance in order to use some pyromancy against you as well, but these should be easy to dodge around so that you can get a few more strikes in that way.

Step 4)Defeat the spearman phase.
This is probably one of his easiest phases to defeat. Most of his effects can be sidestepped easily enough and he will leave himself wide open to attacks a lot of the time. This one should be no problem compared to his other phases.

Step 5)Defeat his final form.
Once you have defeated his other four phases, he will regenerate all of his health. Back up while he is recovering, or the explosion of fire will make you. The main thing to watch for during this phase is for him to pull his sword back to brace himself for an attack. This is your cue to dodge backwards, repeatedly. It is a five hit combo that if you get caught in it you are almost guaranteed to be dead. If you keep your distance from the boss during this phase he will do one of two attacks that will leave him open for retaliation if dodged correctly. The first is a leaping strike that you'll need to dodge to the left and a bit towards the boss. This will put you right behind him when he lands so he won't have an immediate follow up attack and you can get some strikes in. The other attack is a rushing lunge attack, dodge to the side and you should be able to strike back. Other things to watch for is him summoning several lightning spears that will track your movements, a good dodge at the last second should avoid all of them though.

If you are successful in beating this boss, that's it, you've beat the game. Sit back, enjoy the ending you get, and then jump back in for a new game + for more of a challenge, because that was just too easy, right?
