DPI is a measurement of pixels displayable per horizontal inch of screen. DPI scaling controls how many pixels are squeezed into that inch. The more Dots Per Inch (DPI), the smaller the item being displayed might be. The fewer DPI, the larger the item displayed will appear. Most computer displays run at a default of 96 DPI but this can be adjusted depending on your computer, display and visual needs.

To change the DPI scaling level for displays in Windows 10, just follow these simple steps.

Change DPI scaling for all displays in Windows 10
You can change the display DPI system wide or per monitor if you use more than one.

1. Navigate to Control Panel, Appearance and Personalization and Display.
2. Click the ‘Set a custom scaling level’ text link within the window.
3. Either set a percentage in the radio box or drag the scale until you have the setting that works for you.
4. Click OK when done.

If you use multiple displays on your computer, you may need to adjust them differently.

1. Navigate to Settings, System and Display.
2. Highlight the display you want to adjust in the main window.
3. Use the slider under ‘Change the size of text, apps and other items’.
4. Adjust until it scales to your liking and click Apply.
5. Repeat for any other display you need to adjust.
