How To Download And Install DirectX

Direct X is a compilation of low level application programming interfaces for handling tasks geared towards multimedia while a system is in Microsoft's platforms. Depending on which OS you're on the latest version of Direct X will be installed either during OS installation or via Windows Updates. Regardless of automated installation, you can install Direct X manually onto your Windows based system by following through this guide.

    ■In your web browser type www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 into your address bar and hit enter.

    Do note: At the time of writing this tutorial the link does not allow you to download the executable. Please use this link here to download the redistributable package.

    ■Click on the Download and save the executable in a suitable destination.

    ■Locate the executable and initiate the installer in an elevated command, i.e; Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

    ■Accept the license agreement by clicking on Yes.

    ■Extract the contents of the package to a destination of your choosing. If you click on Browse next to the address bar, it will help guide you to an installation directory.

    ■Click on OK and agree to create the folder if you've suggested a location that warrants one.

    ■Locate the extraction directory.

    ■Run DXSETUP.exe in an elevated command, i.e; right click executable and Run as Administrator.

    ■Accept the license agreement and click on Next.

    ■Click on Next to proceed.

    ■Depending on the system specs and the severity of your installation/updating needs the installation will take time.

    ■Click on Finish to close the installation window.

    You have now successfully installed Direct X onto your system.
