Fix media creation tool errors installing the Windows 10 Anniversary Update
There are two things you can do if you see this error. The first is to run Setupprep and the other is to start all over again.

1. Navigate to C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources. Your location may differ but it will definitely start with ‘$Windows’.
2. Find ‘Setupprep’ and double click it.
3. Let the process perform the update process for you.

If the update files are downloaded and not corrupted, this should work fine. If it doesn’t, you will need to start all over again.

1. Navigate to ‘C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download’.
2. Delete all of the contents in the folder. You may need to boot into Safe Mode for this.
3. Reboot your computer.
4. Download a fresh copy of the Microsoft media creation tool.
5. Select 32-bit or 64-bit Windows, whichever you are using.
6. Choose to create ‘installation media for another PC’ and select the other options as you see fit.
7. Burn to a DVD or save to USB.
8. Set your computer to boot from the media and install.

The installation media created by the tool will now include the Windows 10 Anniversary Update so you can install and be up to date immediately, which is nice.
