With the inclusion of Microsoft Edge in Windows 10 you might wonder why you would want Internet Explorer. However, until Edge is complete there are extensions and functions that only IE11 can deliver such as Citrix and Java support. Or, you might just prefer Internet Explorer. Regardless of the why, here is how to find Internet Explorer in Windows 10.

Find Internet Explorer in Windows 10

Despite Microsoft Edge now being the go-to browser in Windows 10, Internet Explorer is still included within the installation. Microsoft just kept it quiet so you would use Edge.

1. Type or paste ‘internet’ into the Search Windows box. For some reason, asking Cortana doesn’t work, so you have to type it.
2. Select Internet Explorer, which should appear below Edge in the start menu.
3. Right click and select ‘Add to taskbar’ or ‘Add to start menu’ if you will use it often.

If you want to add it as the default browser, you can do.

1. Navigate to Settings, System and Default apps.
2. Click the icon under Web browser.
3. Change it to Internet Explorer.

While IE11 is better than ever before, it is still difficult to recommend it over other browsers. Security, speed and reliability have always been an issue with Internet Explorer, something Edge hasn’t yet overcome. However, Edge received extension compatibility with the Windows 10 Anniversary Update so the program is nearing completion and become more viable in time.
