How To Optimize Your PC For No Man’s Sky

The PC release of No Man's Sky has thus far been a bit rocky to say the least. With users with high end systems reporting issues with stuttering and frame rate loss, how do you best optimize your PC to recover from this? Here's a few tips to try that might improve your experience in No Man's Sky.

Step 1)Disable G-Sync

When you launch the game you can go into the options to disable this feature, and a restart of the game may be required for this to take effect. If you are having issues even getting into the game to do so though, you can manually disable this in the game files as well. Navigate to the folder where you installed No Man's Sky, if you bought the game through steam this will be C:program Files (x86)/Steamsteamappscommon/No Man's Sky and then navigate into the Binaries and then settings folders. There, you’ll find a file called "TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML.” Right click on it and open it with Notepad. A list of graphics options should appear, with many of them set to “true” or “false.” Just below Vsync is a heading for G-sync. Set the value to “false” and save the document.

Step 2)Set No Man's Sky to high priority in the task manager.

Now that the alt tabbing issue has been fixed, we can open the task manager while the game is running, and right click on the game located in the processes. There will be an option to change the priority of the game and you can set it to the highest option available and that might help a bit because your computer will be allocating as much resources as it can to the game.

Step 3)Update all of your drivers.

Always make sure your drivers are up to date in order to get the most out of your computer, most importantly, check to make sure you have the most recent video card drivers installed. These can be found on the Nvidia or AMD websites, depending on what kind of video card you are running.

Hopefully these tips help, but keep in mind that there is a lot of optimization still required from the game developers as well. It's a bit rough, but they're getting there with it.
