To start, I purchased on Amazon.com. I redeemed the code from the link they sent me. On Microsoft's website, It is not available anywhere even though it recognized I had purchased it. Several spots said "Not Available" or "Coming Soon". Even the Microsoft store app would not let me install. I would press manage games and it would kick me to the store home screen. I spent hours with a Microsoft rep today who had no clue how to allow me to download this game. I literally went through every possible step she had to offer. I stumbled upon this method by sheer luck and ended up teaching Microsoft how to bypass their broken download system. All for the game series I love.
1) Log onto your windows PC from within your Microsoft account (NOT LOCAL ACCOUNT) from which you made the purchase or linked the code.
2) Open the Microsoft pre-installed Xbox app.
3) Go to the My games tab.
4) You're Forza Horizon 3 game will not appear here. Select "Find games in the store".
5) This will direct you to the Microsoft pre-installed Store app, where you will need to find the game.
6) Once it is found, select the game>redeem code>enter code.
7) If you have already entered the code somewhere else on the account, such as amazon's redemption link, it will say the code has already been redeemed. You may now close both windows related to the redemption.
8) Navigate back to the Microsoft pre-installed Store app, find the game and select it again.
9) You will now finally have the option to install.
I do have to give credit to Cindy, the Microsoft rep, for being one of the best customer service people I've ever spoken to. She was patient through the 2+ hours of help, even though she could not resolve the issue.
