Civilization 6: Sumeria Guide

Sumeria is a great civilization for starting off very warlike right off the get go because of their unique unit. If you are looking to jump right into the action off the get go and start waging war as soon as possible, then this is the civilization for you.

Sumerian Leader

Gilgamesh is leading the Sumerian people, and he brings the special ability of 'Adventures with Enkidu'. This ability makes it very valuable to forge a few strong alliances as early as you can, and keep a few city states on your side. When fighting a joint war, Sumerian shares pillage rewards and combat experience with the closest allied unit within five tiles. Sumeria can declare war on Civilizations at war with their allies without suffering warmonger penalties, and can levy City-State military forces at 50% of the usual cost.

With the special ability Epic Quest, every time you capture a barbarian outpost, you also get a tribal village reward. With this, even without waging wars early on it will be very beneficial for you to set up a decent army and explore as much as possible and weed out any of the barbarian outposts you find.

Unique Unit

The Sumerian's get access to the war cart unit right on turn one, which is what makes them so powerful right off the start in the early game. It suffers no penalties against Spearmen and other anti-cavalry units. It also gets an extra movement if starting in open terrain. This unit also has a combat strength of 30, making it the strongest unit in the game that you can build from turn 1.

Unique Building

The Sumerian's gain access to the unique tile improvement the Ziggurat, which requires no technology to build and can be built by builder units on any tile. It will provide +2 to science, and if it is built next to a river you'll also get one culture.

When playing as Sumeria, you are going to need to have a very strong early game to still be feasible into the late game, so don't be shy about starting wars and taking things over as quickly as you can, your civilization bonuses and abilities are going to quickly become obsolete.
