If you want to boot your HP Spectre X360 from a USB drive, you have two options. You can boot just that once or permanently from it. Both will then cause the laptop to ignore your installed OS and choose whatever is installed on the USB key instead. As long as the USB contains bootable media, it should be picked up and used by the machine.

Here is how to boot from a USB Drive with your HP Spectre X360.

Boot once from USB with the HP Spectre X360
If you still have the default Windows 10 installation on your HP Spectre X360, you should be able to access the quick boot menu.

1. Boot or reboot your HP Spectre X360.
2. Press F12 once it powers on until you see the quick boot menu. You may have to press the F12 key repeatedly for it to be picked up.
3. Select the USB drive from the list and press Enter. The laptop should now boot from the USB drive.

You can also set your laptop to boot permanently from a USB drive.

1. Boot or reboot your HP Spectre X360.
2. Press F10 to access the BIOS menu. You may have to press F10 a few times to load into the UEFI BIOS.

3. Select System Configuration and Boot Options.
4. Select USB Diskette or USB Drive. What you see depends on what BIOS version you’re using. It will definitely mention USB.
5. Press F10 to save the new settings and select Exit. This will write the new settings to the UEFI and reboot the laptop.

Either method will boot your HP Spectre X360 from a USB drive. As long as there is bootable media on the USB, the laptop will load whatever is on it.
