Some problems have many possible causes. This tutorial addresses one or two possible cause of blank screen or no video (especially if your using shared video memory) and some memory beep errors. This is a very simple solution that can save you a lot of time and some money if you try it. If it doesn't work for you, you didn't lose anything but a few minutes.

Please be sure to use ESD precautions. Do this at your own risk.

Sometimes due to corrosion or debris, memory modules do not make a good connection with the motherboard.

I have created a video demonstrating how to 'scrub' the motherboard memory pins using your memory stick.

I have done this several times on different machines and it has worked. This example is done on a DELL 1555 laptop, but the principle is the same on desktop motherboards.

Another common issue I have noticed recently is some people will use DDR3 memory where they should be using DDR3L memory. This is another cause for a blank screen on bootup.
