*** PLEASE NOTE!! CLASSIC SHELL IS NO LONGER BEING DEVELOPED, IF WINDOWS BREAKS THE PROGRAM THIS TUTORIAL WILL NO LONGER WORK HOWEVER YOU CAN USE THE PROGRAM CALLED START10. THAT PROGRAM WILL ALLOW YOU TO DO SIMILAR THINGS INCLUDING ADDING A TASKBAR TEXTURE AND USING A SIMILAR BUT NOT AS GOOD (IN MY OPINION) WINDOWS AERO START MENU. ***

Okay, so if you have Windows 10 and you want to make it more like Windows 7 follow along with this guide. Also I should mention that I am in no way responsible if you mess up your Windows install by doing anything here. (Not that it should mess anything up.)
Also I should also metion that I took a lot of the ideas for this guide from LinusTechTips. He and his team made the original guide linked above.

So before you decide if you want to do this here is what the end resut will look like:

This is the end result with the Start Menu open. **Please note I blurred out my username for security purposes.**

Okay so you have decided to continue with this process what will you need?

Windows 10
Classic Shell
7+ Taskbar Tweaker

You will also need the following textures..

1.

Windows207.png

2.

Win720Taskbar20Reflection20for20opacity204020qty202.png

Be sure you save the textures in a place that wont be touched, I recommend opening file explorer and navigating to your Windows installation and making a folder in the root folder called "Custom" and putting the textures inside that folder.

// This step will explain how to set the taskbar texture and get the settings correct for the taskbar section.

Step One :
• Open 'Classic Shell' and click "Show all settings" then click on the taskbar tab.
• Click "Customize taskbar".
• Check the box labeled "Glass" under Taskbar Look.
• Click to the right of where is says "Taskbar texture" and navigate to the location you saved the textures to. Double click on the taskbar texture. (Image #2)
• Next click the label that reads "Taskbar opacity" and inside the [ ] type "40".
• Then click "OK"

// The next step will explain how to change the start button.

Step Two :
• Click on the "Start Button" tab.
• Check the "Replace Start Button" box.
• Check the "Show on all taskbars" box.
• Check the circle that says "Custom button"
• Click where it says "Button image" then click on the [ ... ]. Navigate to where you saved the start button texture (Image #1) and double click it.
• Click on the "Button size" label and click the [ ]. Use 24, 32, 48, 64 based on your resolution and scaling settings. (I have a 1080p monitor and scaling set to 100% and I use "64".)
• Then click "OK"

// The next step will explain how to make the 'Desktop Preview Button' in the bottom right corner of the screen the same size as the Windows 7 'Desktop Preview Button'. This step will also explain how to remove the Cortana search box, task-view, and the people icons from the taskbar.

Step Three :
• Open '7+ Taskbar Tweaker' then right-click the tray icon, click advanced options, change show_desktop_button_size to 12. Then close the window.
• Next right-click on your taskbar hover over Cortana/Search select "Hidden".
• Then uncheck Show Task View Button on the same menu and "Show people button".

// This step will explain how to make the start menu look just like the Windows 7 one. This step will also explain how to remove all the items from the start menu so you can only show what you pin to it.

Step Four :
• Open Classic Shell again and navigate to the "Start Menu Styles" tab and click "Windows 7 style".
• Next navigate to the "Skin" tab and choose "Windows Aero" from the dropdown menu then click "OK".
• Next click "Customize Start Menu" and set this screen to the following:

| User Files | Display as link |
| Documents | Display as link |
| Pictures | Display as link |
| Music | Display as link |
| Videos | Don't display this item |
