Stardew Valley - Guide about the Governor

While playing Stardew Valley, you might think that there are very characters in the game and there could not possibly be any more as all the roles have been fulfilled. For example the role of the Mayor is one of power and he is the one that oversees everything in Stardew Valley but there is another person who is higher up in the office and that would be the Governor. He is one of those characters to which you cannot give any gifts to and thus cannot build a relationship with.

The Governor’s Schedule:
The Governor can only be seen in Stardew Valley once a year, and that is the only time you can talk to him. You can also see how the Mayor reacts in the presence of the Governor. He is only there at the Luau which happens on the 11th of every summer. He takes part in it and as soon as it is over he leaves.

Events with the Governor:
There is only one event with the Governor which is the tasting of the Potluck Soup. In this event you get a chance to add something to the soup, after which the Governor tastes the soup and gives you his feedback. The result of this feedback reflects on the villagers and increases and decreases the friendship level with all the villagers depending on what you add.

Potluck Items that the Governor likes:
There are a few items which you can add which make the Governor really love the soup. You can add:
- Any type of Wine
- Sturgeon
- Goat Milk
- Cheese
- Chanterelle
- Cauliflower
- Purple Mushroom
- Large Milk

- Ice Pip
- Goat Cheese

- Catfish
You should keep in mind that all of these items have to be of the Gold or Iridium quality and any inferior quality items will not trigger the best response. You should also keep in mind that these are not all of the things that you can add. There are a bunch more but be careful as somethings can have a negative impact on the Governor such as:
- Holly
- Pufferfish
- Red Mushroom
- Sap
- Scorpion Carp
- Sea Cucumber
- Void Mayonnaise
You should avoid these items at all cost as they will make the Governor throw up and give you negative 150 points of Friendship with everyone in the town. There is also one more additional bit of trivia that you would like. The game only lets you add edible items into the soup which means the stuff that you can cook with but there is one item that is an exception to that. Now if you can recall, one of the early quests in the game is to get Mayor Lewis’ shorts back from Marnie’s farm by befriending Marnie. If you manage to do that, you should hold on to the shorts for a while because you can add them to the soup. It does not give you any benefit at all, in fact it is really bad for you as the Governor throws up and you lose friendship points but it is extremely hilarious.
