Willy is one of the major Non Playable Characters present in the game. He is the town fisherman and is responsible for all the fishing quests and the sale of all fishing related goods. You don’t need to look for him as he introduces himself to you through a letter. You can increase your relationship with him by giving him gifts and can earn some benefits as well.
Willy’s Schedule:
Willy starts his day at 6:10 am. After waking up he immediately goes fishing and comes back to his shop at 8:50 pm. He closes the shop at 5:00 pm, after which he goes fishing again till 10:00 pm. In the Winter his schedule is a little different because after closing the shop he goes to the Saloon and stays there till 11:20 pm. His shop closed on Saturdays because he spends all day fishing either by Leah’s cottage or by the river in the town.

Since Willy is the fisherman he sells a lot of stuff that you can use to fish yourself. He sells:

Willy loves all Universal Loves as well as Octopus, Pumpkin, Catfish, Sturgeon, Mead, Sea Cucumber, Iridium Bar and Diamond. He likes all Universal Likes as well as Gold Bar, Tiger Trout, Chowder, Lingcod, Crispy Bass, Quartz, Fish Stew, Fried Calamari, Trout Soup, Baked Fish, Salmon Dinner, Lobster Bisque, Fish Taco, Carp Surprise, Crab Cakes and Fried Eel.
He hates all Universal Hates and dislikes all Universal Dislikes except for Iron Bar, Gold bar and Fish. He also dislikes Chanterelle, Common Mushroom, Daffodil, Dandelion, Hazelnut, Holly, Leek, Life Elixir, Morel, Purple Mushroom, Salmonberry, Snow Yam, Wild Horseradish and Winter Root.
Quests for Willy:
On your second day on the farm you get a letter from Willy asking you to meet him on the beach. Once you do that, he will give you a Bamboo Pole and will teach you how to fish. You can either sell your fish to him for money or you can use that fish to give yourself some energy.
His second quest comes on the 2nd of Winder in which he asks you to catch a Squid which is only available in the Winter. If you manage to do that, you will have increased your friendship with Willy by one heart and he will also give you 800 gold.
His third quest comes on the 13th of Winter in your second year in Stardew Valley. In the letter he asks you to catch a Lingcod and if you complete this quest you can again increase one heart and also get 500 gold.
Willy also puts up tasks in the town through which you can earn an extra bit of gold.
Willy’s Heart Events:
There are 4 Heart Events which occur with Willy. You can trigger the first one when you reach 3 hearts with him. The other 3 trigger at 5, 7 and 9 hearts respectively. In all of the events he sends you various recipes for seafood.
Willy is a good NPC and can really help you during the beginning of the game as fishing is an excellent way to earn some quick money. You can also find treasures while fishing which is a huge benefit.
