As you all probably know, Stardew Valley got an update about 2 months ago which allows you to invite friends in to your game. This game is perfect for multiplayer as there is a lot of stuff to do even for multiple people. Keep in mind that the multiplayer is only available as a Beta on the PC. The other platforms that Stardew Valley supports, such as the Xbox One and the PS4, have yet to get a multiplayer update as the multiplayer is still a work in progress. The multiplayer is pretty seamless but there are a few things that you need to do to invite people in to your game.
Walkthrough:
1.The first thing that needs to be taken care of is the housing problem. Since every character in the game needs their own house therefore you need to make houses for all the people that you want to invite. The houses are known as cabins and there are two ways to make them.
The first is the easiest but it requires you to start a new game. Once you have downloaded the Beta you can choose to start the game in multiplayer mode and when you do that, the game will ask you how many additional cabins you want. After choosing the number, the game will take care of making the cabins and allocating the space accordingly.
The second way to get cabins is to make them yourself. This you can do in an old save file as well as a new one. All you need for another cabin is 100 pieces of gold and 10 stone, which is next to nothing really. After you have these materials you can go to Robin and have her make the cabins which takes about a day per cabin.
2. So now that you have the cabins it is time to load up the game in multiplayer mode. You need to quit to the main menu and load your save file in the Coop mode.
3.Now that you have the cabins and have loaded the game up in coop mode, you can start inviting people. First of all you need to determine what type of game mode you want it to be. You can choose from two. The first one is for all your friends. They will be able to see that you are hosting the game and can join accordingly. The second is based on invites. No one will be able to see your game unless you invite them or send them an invite code. You can do this by going to the game settings and selecting the multiplayer tab.
From there you can either invite whoever you want to invite or you can look at your game’s invite code and send that to the people you want to invite. People with the code will be able to join without you having to send them an invite again and again.
You should definitely check out the multiplayer if you are playing on PC as there is a bunch of stuff you can do together. You can divide tasks, go mining together or even get married to each other. This Beta adds a bunch of stuff so be sure to check it out.
