There are times you might want to connect your MacBook to a projector, be it for those holiday pictures and videos for friends and family, or giving a presentation to your employers. Almost every projector out there has Mac support, and connecting to one is not a difficult job. You can get it done by following these simple steps.
1.) Plug in your HDMI Adapter Cable
Macs do not come with an HDMI port, so you need to connect an HDMI adapter to your USB-C port. However, the kind of adapter you need is specific to the manufacturing date of your MacBook. Check the compatibility before getting one. They are easily available and not very expensive.

2.) Connect Projector via HDMI
Connect your projector to your MacBook by plugging the HDMI cable into the HDMI adapter you previously plugged into your MacBook. The other end of your HDMI cable should be connected to the projector. Make sure the projector is turned on. The hardware is set up and you are ready to set the system preferences.

3.) Open System Preferences
Click on the 'Apple logo' and open System Preferences. A dialog-box will appear.

4.) Open Displays
Click on the 'Display' icon. The Display dialog box will open.

5.) Select your Display
Choose the display of your choice by clicking on the ‘Optimize For’ drop-down list under the Display tab. You will find your projector listed there.

6.) Open Arrangement
Open the Arrangement tab, and check the box next to 'Mirror Displays'. Your MacBook screen will be projected by the projector.

You are now all set to start your presentation.
