I have been troubleshooting this issue for quite some time and now frankly I am a little stumped.
Background:
I have observed in 3 games a "USB hang" that makes game play impossible. The games are Lego Star Wars, Lego Indian Jones, and Kane and Lynch. Starting with the initial boot of the games I hear a USB connect then disconnect sound repeatedly, during the sound the game hangs (video and audio pause). This anomaly does not occur for games of the like of Crysis, COD4, GRID, and Assasins Creed.
I have eliminated the keyboard/mouse, power supply, drivers, etc., etc. as sources. I have narrowed the conflict down to the VFD/IR display on my case having a conflict when it is plugged into the USB headers on my MB. Unplug it and the anomaly goes away. Also, unplug any USB input device (keyboard/mouse, wireless controller, etc) and use a PS/2 device (with display still plugged into header) and the anomaly is not present...
