This really makes no sense to me Id rather see it on 1 big screen instead the gaps between each screen is annoying.

The middle bar would be a huge inconvenience for any FPS or other game with a centered crosshair. That's exactly why three displays in portrait mode, with an undisturbed HUD on the center screen, makes a lot more sense than six displays, or any other configuration that breaks the center of your overall display.

And, as mianmian mentioned, even thin bezels around LCDs makes for an unpleasant viewing experience, in my opinion. The extra real estate might give you a competitive edge, but it just doesn't look good to me.

6 19x10 projectors will show a lot more then 1 19x10 that takes up same amount of wall space. That is why this is a good thing, yea no borders would make it better, but no single screen will have the resolution of that setup. Dunno why people keep saying that they rather have one big display, it won't show anything as clearly or have the resolution of this setup. a 70 inch screen at 19x10 resolution will clearly show pixels when close up, 6 19x10 won't since the total resolution is 6 times what one single display has, so will have smaller pixels.

I believe the largest projectors are 1080p. so instead of 100" of 1920x1080, how about 100" of 5760x2160? If you have the money for that, I'm sure you have the money for the graphics cards to power it.

You can use a projector for a large surface area but the resolution would still be lower. Using multiple projectors would get round this giving a much higher resolution for an even larger surface... I think that was the point of Socnom.

As for these articles themselves... they have been done before many times regarding various games. It's all old news with the same issues being talked about, they are just using a different game. Still, I guess its a change from all the repetitive rubbish on the Fermi articles.

I agree with a lot of the others here. There is no point to enlarge the image to 6 screens. All's we are doing is basically zooming in to the point of having to use 6 displays. Now eyefinity on 3 screens is better due to it not enlarging the image but actually giving a chance to see your peripheral vision on the two side monitors.

I've played it on my 110" screen off my projector and honestly, the size just becomes a bit too much to keep track of everything going on. Sure, the projector is fun to play on for a while and WATCHING someone play looks really cool too, but the novelty for the player wears off fast. As awesome as the massive HD eye candy might look, I find myself having more fun and doing better on either my 22" or 25.5" monitors.

One would think a polycarbonate mount could be made to house the lcd screens without the 1/2" bezels attached.

It's beyond distracting IMO. I'd rather play on a single 30" screen with ultra high resolution than 3 or 6 monitors.

My real question to people that think that Bezels are distracting is, has anyone actually tried multi monitor setup at least in a like 1x2 or 1x3 setup? (and im not just meaning though a video. actually being hands on)

Yes i have not tried eyefinit (but i've done normal dual monitor setup) i really dont see how there distracting scene your eye's will goes from bright sceen to bright screen not really caring about the dark bezels beside each monitor.

as lot of people have said that have tried/using it, if you try it and play on it for while, you notice that you dont care for the bezels as you mind is looking at the overall picture.

Lame IMO - If it offered something like Peripheral Vision (side to side) then it would be worth it. I despise FPS games because you can't see what's going on from the side like you can in real life albeit semi-blurry.

I think they set the resolution at like 640x480 so that the fps wouldnt come to a complete halt. if thats 1 card pushing that at that framerate you would have to assume that the res is pushed way down which is the reason for the gun being most of the bottom middle monitor and there being no peripheral vision.

For those folks who don't understand what Eyefinity does: It is not about making things bigger to look at but it is about giving you a greater field of vision which a single HDMI monitor/HDTV/projector cannot do.

The folks at ATI who came up with this believes that human eye can process up to 100 million pixels. However, a 19x12 only gives you 2.3 million pixels and a 25x16 gives you ~4.1 million pixels. Therefore, there are the other 95+ million pixels to fill for truly immersive gaming experience.

Eyefinity is not perfect but it is a right step on the right direction. I believe that display manufacturers should start trying to make bezel thinner and thinner and eventually they will achieve bezel-less display then the rest is making it accessible to the majority of gamers. Many of us are looking forward to that day.

I think your right, to get decent frame rates he would have to use a 5970 or maybe a 5870 with all the setting turned down.

Does the resolution give you an advantage in gaming or is the wider aspect ratio the only thing that helps you in gaming?

To be honest, I would MUCH rather have a 2560x1600 monitor than a triple display setup.

PS: This is unrelated, but I noticed that you can now get 16:9 monitors with 2560x1440. I find this really annoying because screens are supposed to get MORE pixels as time goes on, not less. I would be totally cool with this, however, if 2560 became the second biggest horizontal resolution from now on and 3840x2160 became the new top-end standard for 30" monitors. 3200x1800 would be quite awesome too.

This would have to be at LEAST 2 cards in Crossfire.
Eyefinity can only use 3 outputs off of one card (And one must be DisplayPort).
So 2 x 3 would need to use 2 cards just for connectivity.
Performance is another issue entirely.
MW2 isnt that tough on a system. I think 2 5870's could play it at that resolution with AA turned off/down.....

Needs thinner bezels. Of course, my 5870 only has outputs for three monitors, but I would like to do 3 of them in portrait mode with thin beezels. Hopefully we'll get some thin beezel monitors soon.

ZirbmonkeyI see that the FoV angle is still junk, even on 6 screens. What's the point of having a wall of pixels when you still can't see who's shooting you at a natural viewing angle?

you know what really gets me is when you play these types of games or even racing games 4 player on a single screen. They could shrink things down to get the FOV right but they don't. Instead they grossly limit your FOV further. I mean a 50" display is equiv to 4 TVs larger than 20" diagonal, right? At least give us the option!
