Hi all, i just upgraded and my new motherboard (ga-8ihxp) and mx300 soundcard don't get along. When i install my soundcard's drivers i am informed during the installation process that my mx300 is not installed into the primary pci bus and that certain functions may not work correctly and sure enough they don't. When i launch a game sometimes the game hangs immediately or further into it. The m/b has an onboard audio device that i disabled and i have installed the mx300 in different pci slots and have assigned it a unique irq but to no avail. I can remove the card and use the onboard audio which sounds way worse than the mx300 but then again it works..... There is another issue that i think may be related and even the cause of my soundcards problem.....i just don't know enough to be sure.... win98se finds something it calls a pci universal serial bus.... and it keeps finding it even if i delete it in device manager... i have no idea what this could be or what drivers it needs but it may be the cause of the o/s (or whatever)thinking that the mx300 is not installed in the primary pci bus. I have all the latest drivers installed.... everything worked fine and for a long time on my old system, the m/b is as far as i can tell the latest hardware version...3.0... and the bios is up to date.... i installed the chipset drivers and the intel application accelerator.. everything went smooth until the soundcard. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
Hi Crashman, thanks for replying! I was hoping someone could help me out unfortunately i have a slow speed dial up internet connection (26.4k) but if you could walk me through how to patch this i would be forever in your debt! I also use getright so if i had to d/l anything large i probably could do it, just would take a while. I still can't figure out what that pci universal serial bus is that the o/s keeps finding. Once again, thanks for the help!
