Ok I'm not sure where the question is in there, or how many there are... I'm going to try to address some of the possible questions that could be taken from it.

Will you need to upgrade to vista? At some stage, yea. Same way using Windows 98 for gaming is pretty pointless now.

Will you need to upgrade to vista if you use xp for future games? This doesn't make sense but it's how you worded it. Not going to try to make sense of it.

Will the ATI HD4850 work with xp? Finally a clear question! And here's a clear answer: Yes.

From now on, more and more future games will start carrying the "Games for Windows" logo, ; windows = windows vista. No point in staying with XP. But the 4850 should definitely work with XP, if you have good overall hardware.

Show me with a grand audience that dx10 is so much awsome right now, and to go a step further how about the spec sheet on the difference between pci express 1.0 vs 2.0?

neigther are needed with given software games on the market. why does the e8400 stomp all the quads in gaming? are quads needed for gaming?


Is the p35 chipset worse than the p45?

E8400, p35 mobo, 8800 gts( g92) the 8800 might have to be upped before nethelem depending on games and monitor set-up but for 1600x1050 set u ps itll be fine.

You'll be fine with XP, just as long as the game isn't listed as Direct X 10 only. "Games For Windows" doesn't mean Vista only. Read the back of the game box. Developers would be stupid to make a game DX10 only at this point, especially with all the backlash against Vista.
