I want to upgrade my motherboard. But I just don't know which way to go. I want USB 2.0, AGP 8X, and will support PC2100 memory and the Athlon XP 1600 CPU (and higher of course) I don't need anything fancy.

Here's what I have now:
GA-7DX+
Athlon XP 1600
1Gb PC2100
Maxtor 60GB 7200rpm HD
Geforce 4 MX440 64mb DDR
CDRW/DVD
Fortissimo III

I want to upgrade the motherboard and I am eventually upgrading to the 9700 pro. Probably this summer.

Any suggestions for a new board?

well you should definitely go for an nforce 2 board.most people would say asus a7n8x deluxe but i don't have personal experience of that board and there are apparently some bios problems but i suppose they will be fixed.i have an abit nf7-s (also nforce 2) and i can highly recommend it-cheaper than the asus but with all the features (except dual lan but not many people will need that).the nf7-s is a great board and really comprehensive for overclocking.

no matter how hard you try, you can't polish a turd. :]

I've got an A7N8X Deluxe, and yes, BIOS problems have occured but they are now part of the past (for me at least) and I fully enjoy this board. But if all you need is USB2, AGP 8X and PC2100 support, you could settle for the regular version of the A7N8X.

nf7-s has serial ata and firewire and the nf7 doesn't have either.it's still got the mcp-t southbridge though
