Considering the MacBook Pro starts @ $1199.00 and the alienware @ $799.00, you could ebay the mac, eat about $200.00 and get a base model 11x... However, you'll be disappointed when you learn the base model 11x won't touch the speeds of a MacBook Pro, and you'll be stuck with a $799.00 mini-laptop that really needs about another $500.00 worth of options to perform worth a darn.

The MacBook Pro has a core 2 Duo while the 11x has a far inferior CPU. However, if you just like pretty lights, on an overpriced, glorified netbook, then go for it. You'll be very disappointed when you get it and the pretty alienware backlights have become mundane.

EDIT: two years down the road, not only will the mac hold up better, but it's resale value will far exceed that of the Alienware. Just wait a year and that 11x can be bought on ebay for about $500.00 for a upper class model.

The Alienware has either a Intel® Pentium™ SU4100 1.3GHz (2MB Cache) or Core™2 Duo SU7300 1.3GHz (3MB Cache) . The SU7300 IMHO is still considered a CULV, that just supports Intels VM technology, that's it! It is a whole different critter from the 2.4GHz 2.66GHz that the MacBook Pro has.

CULV CPU's are right between the Atom and Core 2 Duo. The su7300 will possibly give you longer battery life, but the new UniBody Macs, from what I've read have great battery life as well.

You'd be best going on ebay. Macs, on ebay, get a good price. They'll charge for the auction of course, but you'll get a lot of people interested. The more people that look at it, the more $$$.$$ you will get. Also, you don't have to be worried about being scammed - both the buyer and seller are better protected.

If you do get the Alienware, I'd really advise getting the 4GB memory and 7200RPM HD option. ;)

You are such a nice person! Ya know I tried ebay with the pay pal thing and - just that Paypal sucks!! I don't have a bank account yadda yadda yadda. Anyway, eventually I will get the alienware but right now I'm making payments on a 10K Saddlebred colt and things are tough with the money situation. I added my mac for sale on here and I might add it on craigslist but kinda scared cause of all the weirdos out there. I added it for sale here for $900. And it's worth $500 more than that. I pray I get it...... Thank you again! -Bridget
