Hello All
Recently i built a new machine with a Gigabyte GA7VAXP MB and an Athlon XP 2400+ processor. When I eventually managed to load Windows XP it was showing my processor as an 1800+ running at 1.5Ghz. (How annoying!) I tried a number of things such as flashing the bios etc. I could not change my CPU Host Frequency in the bios (it was at 100Mhz) and greyed out. So eventually I changed a switch on the Motherboard (THE SW1 Switch) from Auto to 100Mhz. This was my last resort and IT WORKED! My CPU now shows up in XP as 2400+ running at 2.01GHz and in the Bios i can the CPU host frequency is now 133Mhz and I could boost it up if i liked.
The QUESTION is this! Does this mean my FSB is now running at 100Mhz instead of 266Mhz?
It would be fantastic if someone could put my mind at rest with this one!
Thanks
Phil

Your system is running fine, remember, your are running ddr ram, which means your bus will show 133, but being double pumped, it is running at 266 mHz.

Don't you think it is weird that I had to set the SW1 (CPU Clock / System bus frequency) switch to 100Mhz? Has anyone else had to do this?
Anyone else got the GA7VAXP motherboard and know the switch I am on about / or had the same problem?

I don't think that is weird... on my A7N8X in the bios, you have to set a jumper between 200 MHZ and 266/333 MHZ, and then fine tune it in the bios , so your a-ok!
