I have a POS K7AMA (ECS) with a 1.2 ghz athlon, and the bios reports a vcore of +1.88V. I haven't overclocked at all since the board doesnt let me.
I have a Volcano 6cu, and temps are about 67C idle, 70C load for 10 mins.
But I am thinking about buying a new board (one that lets me control VCore).

But will this help me out any? If the Vcore does get changed to 1.75V how much heat will be reduced? Ambient temp in the room 21C (shoots up because of space heater)
3 case fans also, one on side, one on back, one in front.

Or do I just need a new HSF, I need a quiet one though.

Thanks for reading my ramblings. Any help is great!

I'm not familiar with that board, but it's pretty strange you have that high a VCore... And those temps are very high.

The manual is a bit unclear, but it seems to say the "CPU PnP" page of the BIOS allows you to manually set the VCore... have you tried that setting on both automatic and manual?

Actually, early Athlons are notorious for sweeting like pigs. 70C is not unheard of with the 1.2s
