hi everyone,

I got problem with my motherboard(A7N8X Deluxe),or maybe my processor(xp 2400+). The problem is that I cannot overclock my processor anymore since yesterday. I tried to set the bus speed to 140, then the computer won't boot at all. After I did clear the cmos, it worked again but I still cannot overclock my processor. Should I return the motherboard?

I was able to overclock this one to 2.25ghz/150 fsb stable before this happened...

How long were you able to maintain the 150mhz FSB? BTW, what kind of power supply are you using?

Reply to NE_Corridor

for a few days,temperature in idle is about 37C. I use a
Thermaltake Silent PurePower, 420W ATX power supply. Here's my complete specs.

CPU: athlon xp 2400+
motherboard: Asus A7N8X deluxe
gfx: radeon 9700 pro
soundcard: SB audigy
hd drives: WD caviar 80gb
Maxtor diamondplus 40gb
dvd/cd: lite-on dvd-rom
lite-on cd/rw
power supply:Thermaltake Silent PurePower, 420W
fans: 2 cooler master intakes,1 exhaust, thermaltake smartfan 2 on the heatsink

I think I need to tell this.last I tried to install a cold cathode light, that's when this problem occured. I suppose that might be the cause so I unplugged it. the problem still exists.....

but that would suggest that the power supply was the problem and, unless it's faulty, yours should easily be able to handle that stuff.i have a crappy generic 350w and my system is very similar to yours except with only one hard drive and i am running my 2400@ 166X13.5= 2800 speed, with no problems whatsoever.

no matter how hard you try, you can't polish a turd. :]

right now I'm running it at the stock speed, all 4 drives connected,4 usb devices, and including the cold cathode.....all run just fine.I even connected my pda that drain power from the usb..no problem whatsoever.but everytime I try to change the fsb....(up or down)...it won't post.most of my components are brand new...including the motherboard and psu.anymore thoughts bout this?
It seems that most of the people in the forum have problems with a7n8x bought from newegg.
