My internet explorer is acting up...up until rencently (a week ago ?) everything was working properly but now, when I open IE I can surf the web for a few minutes but when I open some web pages (I can always reproduce this by opening the "World Soccer" page at Yahoo! Sports) then IE gets [-peep-] up somehow and I cannot surf the web anymore after that (get the error IE web pacge saying the site can't be found).
The strange thing is that when this happens, my internet connection is still up and running (can play network games or download stuff)..I just can't surf the web. I have to reboot to be able to re-use IE.

Any ideas as to what is the problem ??

lol, if you can surf other sites ok, then the site you are trying to connect to is "Out of order" ;)

It would be helpful if you included the exact links you click on to get to the soccer page and: any IE addins/plugins you have installed or any 'unusual' settings in the options.

Don't use IE. Download Firefox or Mozilla and use one of them as your primary web browser. Personally, I only use IE for the windows updates.

well to reproduce it, I go to www.yahoo.com, click on "Sports" and then "World Soccer". What happen then is that the text part of the page usually loads ok but not the pic. after that I can't open up any web page.
It looks like a DNS issue though....

The strange thing is that I did a HDD format over the week end and re-installed everything and the problem still happens...any virus/hack that could do that ?
(I do have norton internet security 2003)

Hmm. Well, it's true that I don't get the pictures. It's also true that I run anti-virus and firewall software, so they may be blocking Yahoo ad crap. I, however, don't have any trouble going to other sites or anywhere else on the web after viewing that page, so I guess I can't help you out.

Are you talking about this page? If so, it opens up ok and everything is fine even going farther into "forrest". I am on 2k ond IE6 though..

By the way, why do you run anything No-rton? It definantlally, if not coasing any problems, slows down the system for sure.
