I just ordered a laptop with a nVidia Quadro fx3700 graphics chip. It's a G92 core, the same chip that is used on the 9800mGTX. I won't have the laptop for another month and I want to use it for gaming. I have heard many different stories about gaming on the new Quadro FX cards. Most people say that the games will play the same as they would on the GeForce equivalent card, yet some people say the performance will be significantly worse. Can anone comment? The equivalent cards being:

FX3700m = 9800mGTX
FX2700m = 9700mGT
FX770 = 9600mGT

thx
David

I just bought a dell M6400 with one of those cards and won't have it for a freaking month also. I was wondering about the gaming performance as well. Notice the FX has 128 cores while the 9800GTXM only has 112...Interesting eh? The desktop version of the 9800GTX has 128 cores so it looks like the FX3700M should game pretty decently. I haven't been able to find a single thing about clock speeds though.

I found a recent Lenovo W700 review with the Quadro FX3700m and it's 3DMark score was awsome!http://members.cox.net/~dpsurny/3700.gif

Not Bad for a laptop. They WERE running a quad core which helps a lot of 2dmark 06 however. Good find.

How has your laptop performed? I bought an m6400 with the quadro fx2700 and so far I am very unimpressed. I don't know how to word it but if you play a video on youtube and focus on anything in the video that has a dark color/backround you can see squares and rectangles stacked on top of each other and they move at strobe at times. I am not sure what this is called but I image it is a result of the card being intended for graphics design and not gaming/videos. I think I might have chose the wrong card. I have see that this card uses the same chipset as the GeForce 9700M GTS and I am trying to figure out if I can convert it via firmware and drivers.

Did you find out if you can convert via firmware and drivers? I have a HP Elitebook 8730w with FX 2700M and it crashes everytime when trying to run any decent games (World in Conflict, COD2, COD4, etc).
