Let me start thanking Rob and Ben for their great jog on discussing this on Second Take. Rock on!

I decided to open up this thread in order to help EA´s president to understand gamers a little more. Seems like he needs it. Maybe now they will not be surprised with us thinking that DRM is a bad thing. Be welcome!

In order to help game makers even more, I also wanted to include a poll.

Also I recommend you to watch the video that discusses this issue:
http://www.tomshardware.com/spore- [...] _comments.

As a kickoff let me copy/paste/edit my comment to it:

Just some words:

1 - Bravo Ben & Rob! This week has been outrageous for Tom's: not only did you upgrade the charts but you also reminded the president of EA that all that those 25% need is to buy 3 games in order to be as important as the 75% that EA aims at;

2 - It is, well, "disappointing" that EA´s president can`t be aware of things like 25% is a LOT and they buy a LOT MORE then 3 games. It is also " disappointing" that they knew that we do not like DRM and stood with it. It feels like they just want our cash even if they have to kill us;

3 - Just to make sure that EA´s president will understand us this time: that´s a bad feeling. Well I hope you come up with more and more games that try to steal us like NFS Prostreet and games that also sucks in sales like NFS Prostreet (interesting how a coincidence happens so easily);

4 - DRM has changed at least MY policy. I am now acting and spreading the word: use pirate games when they are from EA! Spore will probably sell a lot because of casual gamers, but it will help decreasing sales of all other EA´s games targeted at us, truly gamers;

5 - EA`s president is also wrong on one thing: Piracy is not that bad. Actually it´s great because it´s our way to stay away from EA´s stupid policy. This can be extended to other DRM close related companies.

Conclusion: EA´s president isn't a great specialist in games. In fact he´s as good as those men that were experts on recommending banks to buy stocks and papers that had to do with American houses. I am truly "disappointed" with the specialists we have...
