I am only able to play Splinter Cell for 15 minutes before it freezes. I have a high end machine (2000MHz/1GB-RAM/Geforce4+all updated drivers) with (I thought) adequate cooling. It hasn't frozen for any other FPS, and I've played them all. I just bumped my CPU fan up to high (6300rpm) and have also installed the latest Splinter Cell patch- any ideas?
Ok, so maybe this isn't the most compelling question and maybe it isn't even the proper venue.... I'm going to take the game back for a replacement and go from there. I tried reinstalling the program and got errors so maybe that's it.
I have Splinter Cell to, and one thing that I found out is that the game HATES and Anti-Aliasing or Anisotropic Filtering settings manualy changed in the Driver, make sure you just leave the Settings on Application Controled, esspecially if you are running it a high settings and resolutions. For me when ever I did this my game either crashed straight away or a bit into the game, same as with frezzing.
This probelm may be only with my PC, but i know it was a problem, so it may be something to check if you are manually changing the settings :-)
I have virtually an identical System to yours by the way
cheers BTW It is the BEST game i've played in a long time!!!!
When is a pile of sand a pile of sand? one grain . . . two grains?
Thanks for the advice. I checked it but it wasn't the setting.
It looks like I have a bigger problem. I now went to install an oldie but a goodie (Jedi II) only to find that it won't install and I'm getting a "cyclic redundancy check error" and it's stopping the install. I looked online but didn't see anything of value. What the hell is a cyclic redundancy error? I ran disk dr. and winDr. but no help????? Must play g a m e ssss.
