Advice needed on which mobo to choose

I want to upgrade my system but I'm on a tight budget. Basically, I prefer to save my money until the Hammer is out (I can't afford spending hundreeds of dollars two or three times a year). Anyway, I was thinking of buying an Athlon XP 1700+ processor because it's really cheap (currently I am using a classic 700MHz Athlon!). On the other hand, despite the fact that this system is just a "temporary" one, I would like to have some upgrade opportunities because you never know what will happen. That's why I was thinking of buying a mobo with a KT333 chipset, since it can support all XP CPUs up to 2800+. What brand/model would you suggest? Remember, I don't want to spend a lot of money on this PC. Or, do you suggest getting a mobo with a different chipset?

Thanks, any help would be appreciated.

P.S. I've always preferred Asus boards and they have A7V333 based on VIA's KT333. Would this be a good choice?

If you're looking for a cheap board, you're best bet is the MSI 745 ULTRA.You can find them online for around $60.00

To re-iterate what lwj81 & tombance have said, MSI's 745 Ultra is your best bet. A good solid all-rounder at a good price.

You say you're an Asus man? Well, if you won't change, then check the A7S333, their SiS745 board.

My main concern is that SIS745 doesn't support a 333MHz FSB so I think I will head towards nForce2. Comments on the MSI K7N2-L anyone?
