Firaxis reboots Sid Meier's 1994 title Colonization, which focuses on Europe's effort to explore and conquer the New World. Does Colonization live up to the Civilization standard?
Here is my take, the publisher Take Two is involved which is another word for half A$$'d. This is a horrible and somewhat buggy mod of civ 4. I loved the original this is just a joke at least in single player mode.
Perhaps you could elaborate a bit? Regarding 2K / Take 2, you do know that they are the publishers of the other Civilization games as well right? That includes Civilization 4. Regarding my opinion of the game, the other major review sites also seemed to agree with me for the most part :
I really played Colonization to death before reviewing it, honestly. I had access to a near gold build since August, and then I spent another week and a half playing the heck out of it once retail hit. If Colonization was just a horrible and somewhat buggy mod for Civilization 4, I think that I would have seen some evidence of that. I mean, they were also going against a big fan of the original Colonization who had very high expectations that they needed to meet.
Feel free to share some more details on your opinion of the game though. Maybe I can address some of your concerns, or give you tips if you're finding the game too difficult. I have to admit, the King is a pain in the butt the first couple games.

That review could have been (and probably was) written without having ever played the game.
Civ4Col is an attrocious franchise cash-in that out-of-the-box offers little entertainment value.
The majority of players will install it, play 1 or 2 games, realize how utterly broken the game mechanics are, and never touch it again. (see -> http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=298355 -> 50% of civ fanatics think the game is a waste of money, non-fanatics will no-doubt be even less forgiving!)
I commend the modding work that is attempting to rectify the games numerous flaws, but ultimately I think the game is too broken to be worth redeeming.

Really? I played the game to death, prior to its release and then after. I loved it, still do, and I thought it was a really great sequel to a great original game. Do you want me to see if I can dig up my screenshots from the almost two full months that I played it for hours a day, several days in a row? My first month was with the single player almost exclusively since there was no one to play with, then the final two weeks was all multi. I made sure to get in a ton of multiplayer sessions in before I gave it a proper review.
Thanks for your feedback though. Remember, it's my opinion, and I'm entitled to it. Just because we disagree doesn't mean you have a right to come here and accuse me of not playing the game prior to the review.

Firaxis... that brings back Alpha Centauri memories, a 1999 PC turn-strategy game for those not aware (and that should be most here). They had a pole about which sequel should Firaxis make on their website and Alpha Centauri 2 won, but they never did anything to my knowledge
