I just did a clean install of XP Pro, did all the updates, and installed all the usual programs I use. Everything is running fine, except screen-savers will not start when scheduled. I can launch any of the screen-savers manually, but they will not start when scheduled.

I've checked for viruses and Ad-ware and everything else I can think of, but I can't find anything out of the ordinary.

I've probably done over 100 installs of XP, and I've never seen this problem before.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

This is my opinion since I can't help you with your problem

Screen savers suck. Just program the power saving feature to shut the monitor off after 20 or 30 minutes of idle time.

I agree, but it's for a PC I just built for a friend, who wants to use screensavers.

Thanks for your "opinion".

I find the default screensavers included with WinXP do not cause problems. Most of the screensaver problems I have experienced happen when I use a third party screensaver or a screensaver included with Plus for XP.
For instance I liked to use the Aquarium screensaver included with Plus for XP. However I have run into problems with this screensaver interfering with the auto power save feature for the monitor. The screensaver continuously runs and prevents the monitor from shutting down after the shut down time has passed.
I don't know what causes the problem. I suspect it's a hyper threading issue where the screensaver causes the computer to be in an active state instead of an idle state.
