go play WoW then, there is little guides that tell you what to do and it is really simple to play and one of the most popular ever

I would, but like I said, I need a free one because I dont want to have to pay monthly to play a video game.

You get what you pay for mate.

There isnt really a decent free one, although i believe Guild Wars is a One-Off fee, and Runescape is popular.

If you dont have the patience to learn the game though i would suggest not wasting your time, it doesnt sound like you are your average MMO'er.

WoW has saved me tons of cash in games... The way I see it, the time I spend playing the game also lengthens the life of all my other games, so I don't have to buy new ones that often. Picked up Lost Odyssey about 2 months ago. I play it maybe an hour a night, sometimes I skip a night if I'm not in the mood, and whereas normally with an addictive JRPG I'd have it done in a week, I'm still only half way through disc 3 of 4.

Had I finished it in the week, I'd have bought Blue Dragon at the full retail price of €59.99. Since then the pre-owned price of it has dropped to €19.99. I picked it up pre-owned, perfect copy, saved €40.00. 2 months of WoW costs €30.00.

After another week I'd have finished Blue Dragon and moved onto Grand Theft Auto 4 (yes I'm a bit behind the times but whatever, at least there's DLC and patches out by the time I pick the games up), another week... it goes on and on. Not going to pick up Fable 2 (which is released tomorrow) until sometime next May at this rate.

Overall I'm up quite a bit of cash which I've put into a little find I like to call my 'Technological Advancement Fund', or TAF... sometimes nicknamed TAFfy. Everyone loves taffy. That fund has built my current PC and is currently sitting at a nice tidy sum for my transition to Nehalem and X58. Can't wait.

Tl;dr version: +1 for WoW

Agree with the above, WoW subby costs yes, but it saves you in other areas as well. No longer am i buying games that cost 40 quid and last for 6 hours.
WoW is the best value gaming you can possibly get, but it sucks up a LOT of your time.
