my friend told me at practise the other day that he gets all the games he wants for the xbox 360 for free. i looked around to see how this is possible, and from what i've heard you have to actually modify the xbox to do this. is this true? or do people do it through other means? if you don't have to mess with the 360 to do it, how do you get the games free?

They are not free! You have to buy disks.

You also have to open the xbox 360 and mod it. "there are different ways" some will get you banned from live. Some wont. If you brak it your warranty is void.

Buy games from a shop, unless they're DRM filled messed up PC games then i suggest buying it first but then getting it cracked/getting a pirate copy so your number of installs is not limited.

You don't have to physically mod the 360, but you do have to flash it's firmware. He is pirating the games, and it is illegal in most countries.

Don't pirate games, console or otherwise. You're only killing the industry that you supposedly love, one download at a time.

Pay for your games, dude. And if money is an issue, get a job (or two) or find a cheaper hobby like Mine Sweeper or Solitaire.
