According to ASUS, the P4G8X takes PC2100 not PC2700 DDR SDRAM. Crucial (www.crucial.com), however, lists PC2100 and PC2700 as compatible with the ASUS P4G8X. In addition, a THG review utilized PC2700 (http://www.tomshardware.com/mainboard/20030203/e7205-19...).

Am I missing something or is PC2700 the best memory option for the ASUS P4G8X (disregarding the ASUS PC2100 memory specification)?

Thanks in advance.

That board is specified to run at 2100 speeds. You can purchase 2700 and run it at 2100 speeds. I don't know if the board will run 2700 speeds.
