I installed GTA 3 and after playing for a while I noticed that the game started to stutter (skip few frames). So I just thought it was the game but when I loaded up other games the same thing happens! In Dungeon Siege, the mouse becomes uncontrolably laggy. I tried reinstalling my video card driver but that did not help.

Here are my specs:

P4 2.4 GHz
80 gig hard drive
GeForce 4 Ti4200 64 mb
512 DDR ram
Soundblaster Live 5.1
Windows XP

I doubt it has to do with heating..... This card has gone through much worse than GTA 3 which is a bit old....

what drivers did you install.

my computer is so fast, it completes an endless loop in less than 4 seconds!

This stuttering started when I had the 41.09 driver from NVidia.

Are you using a cordless mouse? If so which one. If not, try using a white piece of paper for a mousing surface.

Could be winXP SP1. Did you installed that? I have problem with SP1 and my Fifa2003 is the most obvious. It just slow down for a few sec then goes back to normal. It just repeat after a few minutes later. It seems fine after i uninstalled SP1. Maybe you can try it as well...
