Just recently, PCStats.com published an article, and has a long thread on the isssue of faulty low ESR capacitors made with a defective, stolen, electrolytic formula. This has led to many cases of (Abit especially) motherboard failures. I haven't seen anything here, and I spend more time here than there. Plus you guys did a great job on the power supply article. Are you looking into this issue? It looks very ugly for all concerned and explains a geat many issues with systems.

Dude, no worries about this. There are few instances where this actually occurs and mostly with shotty boards who don't quality control their stuff. There are bound to be bad caps in any bunch, just hope you don't have one of those bunches. If your that paranoid stick with Asus boards and their 3 year warranty.

To err is human... to really screw things up you need a computer!

Actually, this was a hot topic a couple months ago if I'm not mistaken. This is the issue where the tops of the capacitors rupture, right? I don't think the problem has been found in many high quality boards, just mainly older budget boards.

Well,
It seems maybe some people were more up on this then others. It also seems ABIT has had the worst run. I do not remember ever seeing this on Tom's although I do admit to a trace of alzheimers now and then. I have not seen any of these "newsgroups" spoken of in the article, and also have not heard this in the small business circuit around Oregon. I put systems together from bits and pieces for seniors and I hate to put something together that trashes itself, all because some goober couldn't steal the full formula! The article in the Toronto Star read like the Gang that couldn't shoot straight! Then for these companies to just ignore the issue adds insult to injury!
