I've just built my new system using Asus A7N8X Deluxe and AMD Athlon XP 1800+. I noticed that in bios, I get CPU temps at about 45C while the Asus PC Probe software in Windows displays the CPU temp at the same time at 35C (we are talking about 10C difference!). Does anyone know why this happens and which of the two temperatures is the correct one?

I am planning to overclock this processor since it's Tbred B but what temperature should I monitor? Currently I am using the AMD fan that came with the processor (retail), but I think that 45C is way too high for a Tbred B even for this fan. 35C seems more accurate. Am I wrong?

Btw, just for confirmation here is the stepping from my CPU: AXDA1800DUT3C, JIUGB0251UPAW. How far do you think it can be overclocked, using a good fan like Volcano 7+ ?

The temperature issue is only discussed in about 10 other posts. Use Asus Probe measurements.
