Hi. I have recently purchased an A7N8X motherboard and so far so good. I, myself, am having a problem though with the on-board audio. When I try to play music, it gives me an error message saying something about how I cant play music files because I dont have the right device for it.(something like that). I went into BIOS and stuck pretty much all the on-board features on auto.(I still need to update BIOS) I still am not sure what the prob is. Its probably something simple but, if you can tell me all the possible ideas on what it could be, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks. AND also, in the user's manual it shows a Digital Audio Connector (6 pin SPDIF1) and a USB header (10-1 pin USB56) and none of those came with the board. I don't know if they were supposed to but my main concern is just the audio right now. Thanks.

No. When i go to control panel/audio devices, nothing shows up, i cant adjust the volume, i dont have anything under sound playback/sound recording. Im using windows xp pro. Im not sure but it seems that the computer doesnt detect the onboard audio or maybe i just didnt install something the right way :\

is there a yellow question mark in the device manager? If so you must install the audio drivers from the CD that came with the board

Yes there are yellow question marks. When i stuck the cd in, it only showed like a couple drivers but none for audio. Do i have to manually go into the cd and pull out certain files for it? because when i search in the cd, i see folders called, "AudioDrv" and "AudioUtl". I dont think it installed those. let me hook up the other pc and try it out, ill let you know what happens.

yeah, you have to reinstall driver, then click "have disk" and drill it down to those folders you mentioned until it finds the driver

Perhaps you should try the actual updated Asus driver.

Click <A HREF="http://www.asus.com.tw/support/download/selectftp.aspx?l1_id=1&l2_id=10&l3_id=23&m_id=1&f_name=nf2v116_wxp.zip~zaqwedc" target="_new">HERE</A>

I am confident this will be the best driver for you.

Good Luck
