MSI GNB Max MS-6565 - which P4 cpu?

Yes, all "533" bus P4's are Northwood cored. All "400" bus P4's above 2GHz are also Northwood cored. P4's at 1.6, 1.8, and 2.0GHz were available with either the Northwood or Williamette core. The Williamett was .18 micron and 256k, the Northwood is .13 micron and 512k.

P4 Northwood = 0.13 micron die, copper traces, 478-pin package, lower default core voltage (1.5v), 55 million transistors, 400/533MHz FSB.
P4 Willamette = 0.18 micron die, aluminum traces, 423-pin package, higher default core voltage (1.75v), 42 million transistors, 400 MHz FSB.

So, P4 Northwoods run on a 400 or 533 MHz FSB.
P4 Willamettes run on a 400 MHz FSB.

So to answer your question, yes, any current P4 with 533 MHz FSB is a P4 Northwood.

I hope I got that right. If not someone please correct me.
I love being corrected. It reminds me of home.

It might be what you WANTED to hear, but my answer was more accurate. There are Willamettes in the Socket 478 package. S478 Willimettes are available at speeds of 1.5GHz-2.0GHz.

So reread what I said, there are several ways to identify the northwood from a vender, any of these will work: 1) they call it a Northwood 2) It's .13 Micron 3) It has 512k cache. 4) All P4's faster than 2GHz are Northwood.

Just to be clear, there are Socket 478 processors at 1.6GHz, 1.8GHz, and 2.0GHz with EITHER core. Best way to tell for these speeds which one it's using is method 1, 2 or 3 above.

Chill! I meant thanks to both replies for the advice (and in fact, yours was more consice and the preferable of the two anyway Crashman!). I just wanted to know if all P4 chips w/ 533 FSB would be Northwoods ;) I was looking at 2ghz+ anwyay - perhaps I should have mentioned that ;)

P4 2.4 w/ 533FSB has now been ordered :))

Thanks for the solid advice.
