Hi there.. I'm trying to build a computer for music purposes.. I know that there are a lot of new motherboards out there that are decent and are reliable, and don't cost super expensive.. I'm not looking for the cheapest, just inexpensive... I'm giong to be building an athlon machine, I'm looking for 3 memory slots so I can get at least 1 1/2 gigs of ram, and 6 usb ports... What I've found thus far, which looks pretty good is the Albatron KX400 Pro... Any suggestions for other reasonable boards would be appreciated, thanks

Check out the Asus A7V333-X/L. It uses the slightly outdated KT333 chipset from VIA but it supports 333MHz FSB cpu and 333MHz memory. I just bought one from newegg for $84 with shipping. I has 6 USB 2.0 ports, onboard sound, 6 PCI slots 1 AGP 4x slot.

Anyway, I think thats about the best bang for your buck, or I wouldn't ahve bought it myslef. FYI, if you decide on this, make sure you get PCB 2.01 because 1.01 doesn't support the 333 CPU bus.

Crap, all the good ones are already taken.

Yeah...help us out. If your definition of "inexpensive" is $100.00, then it changes the equation compared to if your definition of inexpensive is $60.00

For $100 you can get a very fast and reliable nForce2 motherboard. In the $60 range, you're probably looking at SiS...

I know a friend of mine last bought a computer back when the MB for his P3 cost almost $200! So, to him, $130 seemed inexpensive. It's all subjective.

I want to move to space, so I can overclock processors cooled to absolute zero.

Get MSI K7N2-L. Inexpensive, fast and stable. Costs ~$90.

Don't buy KT400/KT333 mobos. They are not only slower than nForce2, they are limited to 333 MHz FSB CPU's. nForce2 boards will support future 400 MHz FSB Bartons

MSI 745 Ultra if your looking for a board for less than $70 (prob about 60) and that is very stable and performs just a bit worse than the KT266A, and a bit better than KT266, and nforce orginal.

Hi guys, thanks for the suggestion on the MSI board.. Yes, $100 dollars is inexpensive and certainly everybody here seems to think it's a nice board... I'll check out the deal at newegg.com... I knew people here would know of an alternative.. Thanks... :)
