$1 really is a great deal for HL.

It would probably help to be at least 20 and have experienced some of the evolution of FPS.

Can you get free counterstrike with it? I remember tcf, dmc (and maybe dod?) and counterstrike were free as mods for HL... or was that just counterstrike 1.5? Looking around, CS 1.5 is still available for download, can you update that to 1.6 or is a different product?

Hang on, are retail HL and steam half-life different products? It would seem that HL steam is just the bare HL multiplayer and single player, possible allowing user mods.
