My LAN is not seeing computers feeding into my new Dlink Wireless
router/transmitter, and I'm too much a network beginner to figure out
why.
To my existing setup of a cable modem and SMC Barricade router, I
added a Dlink DI-524 wireless router.
Modem cable goes to WAN port of Barricade. Barricade feeds 3 computers
on LAN via ethernet wires + on Port 1, ethernet wire goes to Dlink.
My portable with wireless adapter reaches the Internet via Dlink &
Barricade just fine.
But the computers on the wired LAN don't see the Dlink router or the
portable. And the portable does not see the other computers on the
LAN.
The portable networking *does* work when wired into the Barricade via
a (wired) lan connection (and is set up with the right workgroup and
networking options for wire connections).
How do I get the portable onto my home LAN via the portable's wireless
adapter?
I've tried both a conventional ethernet wire between the Barricade &
the Dlink, and a crossover cable. No LAN connection with either one,
but both work to give the portable wireless access to the Internet.
I don't understand the options for the Dlink WAN setup, so it's just
what was set at the factory.
