I have recently bought the following:

A7N8X deluxe mobo
XP2400 processor

The first time I put this together, it worked fine, no problems. I also had a XP1700 on MSI KT266 Pro Ru which had given up the ghost. I tested the processor in my new mobo which worked fine (only need new mobo to build 2nd system). My problem started when I put the XP2400 back in. I had the no post problem straight away. I have tested the XP2400 in the K7S5A I bought for the 2nd system which worked fine. The A7N8X still works fine with the XP1700 but not with the XP2400. I've tried clearing the CMOS several times with no joy. So this is where I am - anybody got any ideas apart from RMAing the mobo?

maybe play with bios specs seeing if fsb needs to be adjusted to accomadate faster cpu. this board can be very touchy so just keep trying, most likley it is an adjustment thing. it is a great board if you can find it's sweet spot.

I had a similar problem with my a7v333. I was upgrading from 1800 to a 2100. Wouldn't post. I'd put the 1800 back in and it would work.

I figured out what the fsb and multiplier should be for the 2100 and (with the 1800 in) I altered bios to match that. I then saved the settings, shut the computer off, and put the 2100 in. After that it posted just fine.

The problem you are having isn't unique to the A7N8X board. It is probably an ASUS issue.

I've just been trying various settings i.e changing CPU external freq etc, also optimal & aggressive but still no joy. Any idea if there is a recommended setting for the XP2400? - I'm pretty sure that it's just settings that are causing the problem
