Who has an A7n8X deluxe running Stable!

Makaveli

Splendid
I've seen so many post with people having issues. I bought this board like 2 weeks after it started to show up online.
I've not had any stability issues whatsoever. no random reboots, nothing. The only issues I've seen are bios issues with it not holding the multiplier. Which is fixed with the 1002 bios. Regardless that is an overclocking issue.

Just wanted to see how many people have this board and are not having problems. I should check to see if I have a revision 1.04 board but I believe its 1.03 since I bought it in like Decemeber.

My system is 100% stable. I don't have any overclocking headroom though because my 2200+ is an A and not a B. That doesn't bother me though because this baby screams. I'll get a Barton later when prices drop.

My friend has a 1700+ B and his is overclocked to 1900mhz which is 100mhz faster than my 2200+, heh. He has an A7N8X deluxe as well. He has not had any stability issues either.

Im running AMD 2400+ at 12.5@179, with 1GB Corsair 3200 and its solid. I have had no problems with the deluxe board, and like all the features it has.

Mine is stable running at base settings, but overclocking has led to instability. I've come to a decision that I think its something with memory. I just updated the BIOS, but the setting for FSB Spread Spectrum cannot be changed to anything besides 0.5. Any idea why that is?

I believe all the bios from 1001.G and prior allow you to change disable that option. But for some reason the new bios won't. Thats all I know about the Spread Spectrum so far.

I have mine running stable, after 4 reformats (2x 2kPro, 1x XP Pro and then 1x 2k again...) bios currently is 1002A. I'm running the asus provided 1.16 (d/l from asus support) nForce platform drivers (on their web site they say the nvidia reference drivers current do not fully support the A7N8X-DX boards, i tend to agree).

Specs:
A7N8X-DX
XP2500 Barton
512MB DDR PC2700 (dual channel mode) (soon to be 1.25 GB single chan.)
Visiontek GeForce4 Ti4200 AGP 4x
WD 400BB Hard Drive
SB Audigy Platinum
TDK 52x CDRW
Lite-On 16x DVD-ROM
USB keyboard/mouse
Windows 2000 Pro SP3+
Antec SX-1040BII (400W TruePower)

got it running like a dream now, after much tweaking, can't wait to see it running with 1.25 GB of 2700 <g>

My system's stable.

<font color=red>The solution may be obvious, but I can't see it for the smoke coming off my processor.</font color=red>

I have 2 A7N8X deluxe systems running flawlessly. I've had no problems with any of them from the beginning, to date.

I have one overclocked (a 2400+ at 2700+).

Im having problems with my newly built rig,
A7N8X DLX FLashed Bios to 2a
2 x 256 Corsair Twin X 3200
Athlon XP 2400, Retail Fan & Sink
Maxtor 80G ATA133 8MB Cache
ATI 9700 Radeon Pro
Creative SB Live Platinum
Q Tec 400 PSU
Samsung Dvd
Lite-on re-writer
No overclocking.
After running the new system for a few hours I noticed it reset itself so I DL'd new bios and Radeon Driver and the newest chipset drivers from the Asus website.
Still getting an intermittent reset.
Damm anoying after paying £750/$1000 for this new kit, but then not as bad as some of the stories ive been reading.

Here is the advice Ive been given so far:
I love intermittant problems, they are very interesting. I would suggest that you start a notebook and date and report the sequential events leading to any random reset occurance. Documentation is the most important in computer maintainence.

As you know all lock up is resulted in overheating. All random or intermittant problems are contact resistance problem.

Contact resistance is caused by clock frequency vibrating the two electrical active metal surfaces. It eventually change from 0.1 ohm to 40,000 ohms. You reseat the contacting surface will fix the problem. But you could also change the frequencies in the bios to avoid any resonance on the contact surface to avoid contact resistance change.

This problem is especially accute on memory sockets, unless your documentation shows other cards or flppy or hdd cables may have some effects..

Can anyone advise on this as its getting more and more frustrating.

Mine is also running rock solid, but I do have an annoying problem. I always get an exclaimation mark in my system device saying that my motherboard resource has an error, I've tried t re-install the driver but everytime I reboot it's there... It didn't give me any problem at all but it's just annoying.

My rig:
AMD Athlon XP 2600+ 333FSB
Thermaltake Volcano 7+
Asus A7N8X Deluxe (Asus nForce2 Driver 1.16, BIOS Rev. 1002)
Kingston PC2700 ValuerAM CL2.5 256MB x2
Hercules 3D Prophet 9700 Pro
WinXP Pro + DX9

My PC has gone to hell... because it's a killing machine...

Re-booting can also be a heat issue, or even a voltage issue.

Use the Probe software from on the driver CD and check your voltages. 5% deviation is acceptable usually, but if your core voltage is low at all you might want to bump it up by one setting.

When I tried overclocking my CPU on my A7N8X, the system would exhibit reboots when the core voltage needed to be raised. I would also see random prog errors and/or lockups.

I'd look towards your power supply or tempertures as you said. If you have an extra quality power supply, then try that out, see if it still does it. Here's the order of items i'd look for:

1) Install Asus Probe that came with the driver cd, note your tempertures and voltages

2) If your temperture's seem a bit high, try lowering the temperture by pointing a fan into the open case.

3) Please note your voltages on all lines and post them back here. Look for anything odd.

4) Download and run memtest v86 . It makes a bootable floopy disk that you boot to and tests the memory. Even 1 memory error means that you have problems and is grounds for an RMA.
