Windows 7 Logon Crash

I'm experiencing a strange crash after the first power on and entering my password. The screen would turn black and then the PC would either power off -or- reboot. It happens at least twice before I can finally log in to Windows 7.

I know there's nothing wrong with my i7-875k, GTX 260 or the RAM as I benched those with various applications (like Linx, Winrar, h264, Furmark, etc) and they all pass. Tested with two PSU's but no problems there either.

From what I read, it might be two of the Windows update that could trigger this.

Has anyone else experience a crash after logging in to Windows 7 (or Vista)?

  1. Hmm, has this gone for long? Can try using System Restore to return to last stable point?

Or maybe there's a virus in it.
  2. Hello,

I checked for virus (clean), any malware removed, and fixed system registry with Regcure. But the problem still persists.
  3. I found out that DIMM slots 1 and 3 (dual channel) no longer functions when I tested each slot individually. DIMM 1 does boot but no video. DIMM 3 keeps powering on and off repeatedly.
